WAR ON CRIME: Council Chair Issues Ultimatum to Shilla Boys, Other Criminals

In a bold move to tackle rising crime rates, Chairman of Yola South Local Government, Alhaji Salihu Malkohi, has given Shilla boys and other criminal elements operating in the area an ultimatum to renounce their ways or face the full wrath of the law. This directive was issued while hosting the state monthly sanitation delegation in Yola, on the sidelines of the statewide monthly exercise.

Alhaji Malkohi emphasized that criminality and gangsterism can no longer be tolerated, urging perpetrators to desist from their activities and engage in meaningful, profitable ventures instead. He expressed delight with the team’s visit, pledging his administration’s commitment to supporting Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s efforts towards building human and infrastructural development in Adamawa State.

The Council Chairman commended Governor Fintiri for his remarkable achievements, including remodeling Adamawa and offsetting students’ school fees. He urged citizens to rally behind the administration for a more robust and economically viable state.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Mr. Emmanuel Pridemso, reiterated the state government’s resolve to ensure a clean and habitable environment. He called on citizens to comply with the executive directive on monthly sanitation for enhanced human and environmental health.

In another development, Pridemso issued a two-month ultimatum to the owner of a refuse-heaped plot adjacent to Mbamoi clinic in Mbamoi ward, Yola South, to evacuate the refuse or risk revocation of the land. The Commissioner noted that the littered plot poses a health danger to nearby residents.

Chairman of Yola North Local Government, Barrister Jibril Jimeta, also urged Jimeta residents to justify Governor Fintiri’s gesture of beautifying the area by maintaining cleanliness. He advised youths to shun waywardness and unproductive engagement.

The delegation made several arrests of defaulters who opened their shops before the stipulated time of 10 am. Four commissioners were part of the team, including Information Commissioner Neidor Geoffrey Kofulto, Justice Commissioner Afraimu Jingi, Budget and Planning Commissioner Emmanuel Pridemso, and Environment and Natural Resources Commissioner Mohammed Sadique Wali.
