The Adamawa Northern Senator, Mr Ishaku Abbo in a meeting of Adamawa state All Progressives Congress stakeholders National Press Conference at the party Secretariat in Yola, that the party is united and desperate to remove the Executive Governor of the state, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in office in 2023.
“In APC we are united, Sen Abdulaziz Nyako may not be the next Governor, Sen Muhammadu Umaru Bindow may not be and Senator Ishaku Abbo may not be, but somebody in APC must be the Governor. APC is desperate to remove Fintiri in 2023.
“We are not desperate about power but are desperate about one thing, that is to remove that thief, ” Abbo said.
Ishaku vowed to wrestle power with the PDP in the state come 2023 and said the party has resolved to take the mantle of leadership from some people he termed “kleptomaniacs” come 2023.
“We are in APC in the interest of Nigeria and the interest of Adamawa state. We are not power mongers. We are not desperate politicians. We come together so we can restore Adamawa State from the grip of kleptocratic government.
“Some of us are thinking senator Abbo came into APC to contest for governor. I joined APC so that I can help champion a better Adamawa state for my own children.
“Nobody among us here is after becoming a governor or senator or house of reps members we are after the interest of Adamawa state.
The senator said he is not afraid of making such statement adding that as a legislature, he has no immunity and can be sued.
He regretted that when the governor served in acting capacity for 76 days, he nearly sold the government house adding that in his nearly two years as the governor of Adamawa State, Fintiri did not commission a single project.
“In his nearly two years he has not started, completed and commissioned any project,” he said.
The young Senator who dumped PDP for APC said he spent three days in Mubi, the northern zone uprooting what Fintiri has been planting in two years as the zone is now hundreds person the control of APC.
Responding to the allegation, governor Fintiri’s press secretary, Humwhashi Wonosikou said the senator is entitled to his opinion.
He noted that as a high ranking legislature, the senator should know the import of his statements and should be ready to defend such statements when the need arises.
On the issue of projects, Wonosikou said the governor is taking his time to institute solid projects for the benefit of all citizens as such he is not in a rush.
He noted that if the senator did not see the numerous projects across all the sectors of human endeavour, discerning people of the state are witnessing the milestones being recorded and are in appreciates same.
