It’s three two to the counting down of the fourteen days isolation and stay at home lock down imposed by the government of Adamawa State to curtail the spreading out the Covid-19 virus in the state.
The residence of the State began to complain on the awe of shutting them down at home without providing palliative care arrangements to make them comfortable staying at home.
A commercial Tricyclist,Kabiru Rabiu who feeds his family on a daily routine of the prosits and gains he gets on shuttling people around the Cities of Jimeta-Yola capital of Adamawa State Said the stay at home order is not in their own interest.
He lamented that the virus in Nigeria is less than two hundred people who are officially reported to have contacted the virus in a country of over one hundred and ninety million population and Adamawa is never being recorded of any single case is an undue punishment.
“The Adamawa Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri just want to kill us with hungry over nothing,no case of this disease in Adamawa,in the whole country of about 190 millions population only 174 cases officially reported while in Adamawa State we have a zero case.” Kabiru said
Kabiru while responding to TgNews in a scanty road of Atiku Abubakar in Jimeta Yola beside his packed Tricycle revealed how people of his type depends on their daily pay work to feed family of 8,9 and 10 People under their care.
Lamenting that the stay at home order is serious harsh on them and the Economy system is getting a serious brunts on the masses who hardly received nothing from the government in terms of social services.
A Senior Civil servant,Mr Pwadeino Christopher in a disquiet countenance lambasted the Government officials public holding company of Nigeria (PHCN) of insensitive of the hot weather in Yola that’s currently above 40 degrees Celsius and no constant power to be make the order an enjoyable one at home.
”Tell me how can you stay at home with this weather? The Government of Fintiri is very insensitive to the people’s needs,they asked us to stay at home because of covid-19 and nothing they have provided to make us stay a home.
“No electricity (Power), No money,to some of us there is no food to eat and you expect us to stay at home. No way I can’t stay at home ooo!!” He said
As coronavirus case is rising to 174 in Nigeria with Lagos and Abuja having the highest number of people who are careers of the virus virus, Adamawa is still a zero record state of the virus as official statement by Government has revealed that suspected cases have been tested negetive.
On a confirmation,the Senator presenting Adamawa Southern Senatorial District at the National Assembly,Rev Binos Yaroe Dauda is the first to have come public to announced his covid-19 status.
Dauda in the broadcast said he was compelled to do so because of a trip to UK with other Senator from the State in order to protect himself,his family and the larger society close to him that have elected him to Power he decided to go on isolation.
Dauda while making guileless statements,he said:
“At the expiration of the 14 days, I submitted myself again to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for examination. The NCDC has interviewed me, and on the basis that I am not symptomatic after the mandatory self isolation, has seen no need to conduct further tests and subsequently has relieved me of all apprehensions”
He further emphasized that he had no prior contact with anyone that had tested positive,he placed himself on his own volition in self isolation in his interest,his family, friends and community even before the NCDC advised self isolation.
According to him,he is compelled to make the broadcast to clarify that he has been interviewed to be negetive of coronavirus against the backdrop of the rumors making round, urging all wellwishers to discountenance all rumours.
“I am glad to say that I am fine and free of the virus.” He added
He further continue to say that:”I urge you all to live clean. Live righteously. Live prayerfully. Wash your hands with soap and water. Use hand sanitizers. Obey all stay at home instructions of the government and take person responsible for your well-being and that of your Love ones. ”
Another complainer,a trader who owned a shop close to Jimeta mordern Market, Mohammed Aliyu said with no case of covid-19 in Yola the lock down is a course.
According to him he is in pains since yesterday and today following the closure of the market where he earns his daily bread and his family can’t eat food because of the lock down.
Aliyu on record pleading,begging the government and the general public to as a matter of life and dead to open the market where he can sell for the sake of his family.
Musa Ahmed a fruit vendor at Target junction Jimeta-Yola who after the lock down returned to his selling point reiterated that the order is needless and can’t endure the Long fourteen days without coming out to make a living
Isa Hayatu is a babacure meat seller is also out by disobeying the Court order, Zender News interview to know why he has violated the order.
According to him the order in the first place is really needless and suppose not to be slammed at the people who has no record of covid-19 Virus in the State.
“I can’t sit at home because of coronavirus which nobody can attest of its existence in the State. Look I have 16 people under my roof I’m taking care of if I stay at home how do I feed them? Nobody can stand this harsh order in this State.” He said
This is coming after the Adamawa State signed an Executive Order giving legal backing to the measures taken to contain the spread of Covid-19 throughout the State.
known as the Health Protection (Coronavirus) Restriction Adamawa State Regulations 2020 Order, it came into force by midnight of Tuesday, 31st March 2020.
The Restriction Order prohibits a person from leaving His abode without reasonable excuse except to obtain basic necessities such as food, drugs and water within its two-week lifespan.
Others are seeking medical assistance, providing care and assistance to a vulnerable person, donating blood or for the purpose of work, which are all classified as essential services.
Therefore, the list of reasonable excuses set out in the Restriction Order is non exhaustive.
A statement signed by the Governor Press Secretary,Humwashi Wonosikou said:
“Government expects citizens to exercise caution when considering any undertaking outside those exceptions specifically allowed, as they may have to justify that to the police or other law enforcement agencies and the courts.
Under the Regulation, the police or law enforcement officers may use reasonable force if there are reasonable grounds to suspect that a person is, or may be infected or contaminated with the Coronavirus and there is a risk that the person might infect others.
“The main purpose of the Order is for protection of citizens and the furtherance of public safety which is the fulcrum of any responsible Government.
It is an offence under the Restriction Order for a person to provide false or misleading information, or to obstruct any person lawfully enforcing its provisions, without reasonable excuse.
Furthermore, any person who fails to comply with the provisions is liable on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) six months’ imprisonment or both.
