During the first quarter of 2018 edition forum,the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,SGF,Barr Boss Mustapha Maigida has called for Synergy between the various arms and tiers of Government to achieve national growth and socio-economic development.
Speaking at the First Quarter 2018 edition of the Forum of the secretary to the Government of the Federation with Secretaries to the Governments of the States, in Yola, Adamawa State on Monday 25th March 2018, he noted that the problems confronting the nation has no respect-for geographical boundaries or political affiliations. “We therefore require collective efforts to surmount these challenges, to ensure peace, security, progress and prosperity for our people”, he stressed.
The Director of information to the office of the secretary to the Federal Government,Mr Lawrence Ojabo who signed a press release and made available to news men in Yola said for a “country to develop and succeed all arms and tiers of government need to work together. We live in a world where collaboration and innovation play a central role in creating enabling environment for political, social and economic growth”.
He urged the forum to deliberate on the National Social Investment programme and the Anchor Borrowers Programmes of the Federal Government to jointly assess their implementation,and challenges in the the states.
The Forum of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation meets quarterly to deliberate on issues of national importance, with crosscutting impact on the three tiers of Government.
Dr. Habiba M. Lawal, Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office in the Office of the Secretary to the Government represented the Secretary to the Government of the Federation at the event.
In her presentation on “the National Social Investment Programme(NSIP) of the Federal Government, Impact, Opportunities and Challenges”, Special Adviser to the President on Social Investments, Mrs Maryam Uwais, MFR, stated that more than four million persons from various parts of the country have benefitted from Programme since its inception in 2016. She said the suite of programmes focussed on ensuring a more equitable distribution of resources to vulnerable populations, including children, youth and women.
