One of the delegates of Nigeria to Tuesday’s 2025 AFCON qualifier against Libya, Edo State Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu has confirmed to Sports journalists that the Nigeria delegation still remained at the Al Abraq Airport in Libyan 13 hours after arriving.
Shaibu said their flight was diverted to the small airport away from Benghazi unceremoniously.
He further pointed out that the Al Abraq International Airport is only used for hajj operations.
The Edo State Deputy Governor complained of fatigued players and officials have remained stranded as the host Libyan Football Federation failed to send any reception team or even vehicles to take the delegation members from the airport to their hotel, said to be 3 hours away in Benghazi.
