We’ve Complied With  Environmental Safety Requirements,  Triacta Plc Tells NESRA

Following the sealing up of the office of the contractor handling the most ambitious project of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Triacta Nigeria Ltd, by National Environment Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency ((NESREA), the company says  it has fulfilled all environmental safety standard regulations.

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) sealed the company,  among four others,  earlier this week,  alleging that the company, Triacta Nig. Limited has  
violated   environmental safety standards.

Malam Aliyu Hamid, the state Coordinator of NESREA, had specified that TRIACTA Construction Company did not conduct Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) before its construction activities in the state.

Against the allegation, the management of the company, which is handling most other road and interchange bridge and flyover projects in the state, maintains that it has fulfilled all righteousness on environmental safety as much as it depends on it to do so.  

The Project Manager of Triata Nigeria Limited,  Engr Hassan Ghasssan, told newsmen in Yola that if there is any obligation regarding construction activities around the state as such activities involve the company,  such obligations could not be the company’s responsibilities because according to him we have complied 100% to all environmental standards requirements before we went to site.

” We are committed to the project and we are doing our best to deliver the projects in record time”

In a document made available to Nigeria Tribune to support his claim, he said   his company is up to date with its obligatory compliance,  including evidence  of N4.5 million payment for the conduct of the EIA of the Flyover at Total Junction,  the Interchange at Police Roundabout and two road projects,  all within the Jimeta axis of the state capital. 

The company similarly hold the receipts of N1.5m, being payment for conduct of Environmental Impact Mitigation (EIM),  and then  N1m payment for EIA registration.

While commending the state government for the opportunity given to his company to do the construction job in the state, Engr. Ghassan added that apart from ensuring that safety standards are maintained, he added the company does it’s activities with strict supervision of the ministry of works and energy services.

Stressing that if there was any problem, it has to do with misunderstanding between the ministry of works supervising his job and the ministry of environment.

He however denied claims by NESRA that the company used a consultant that was not registered with ministry of environment, stressing that the consultant was from the ministry and has nothing to do with his company. 

“As far as we are concerned, they carried out all necessary measures including environmental Standards before we moved to site”.
