In a passionate call for unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Duhu has urged party members and Nigerians to rally behind the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and Vice President Kashim Shettima GCON, emphasizing that the stability of this “winning team” is crucial for Nigeria’s progress.

Dr. Duhu’s remarks come in response to recent claims by former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, who alleged that President Tinubu supported the annulment of the historic June 12, 1993 election. These claims have been robustly debunked by Jamiu Abiola, Senior Special Assistant to the President, who provided a detailed account of Tinubu’s pivotal role in the June 12 struggle.

Abiola’s clarification underscores President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to democracy, highlighting his active involvement in the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) and his support for pro-democracy resistance efforts abroad.

He warned that such baseless claims risk sowing division within the APC and among Nigerians, potentially destabilizing the party as the 2027 elections approach.

Dr. Duhu stressed the importance of relying on verifiable facts to counter misinformation, which he described as a threat to national unity.

He called on APC members to focus on building a united front rather than engaging in “petty politics” or entertaining conspiracy theories that could fracture the party.
