Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on Friday vowed that he would forsake former President Goodluck Jonathan if he defects to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
He said Jonathan would not enjoy his support if he eventually dumps the PDP to join APC to contest the 2023 Presidential election.
The governor made the vow while speaking with BBC Pidgin, saying that the former president would enjoy his maximum support if he contests the 2023 presidency under the PDP.
“When you said pick a ticket, from which party? Is it APC or PDP?.
“To pick a ticket means you’re representing the interest of a party. I’m in the PDP and I will not be involved in anti-party activities. If he is in APC, I won’t support him because I’m not into that kind of politics.
“It is not about ethnicity for me, but about the party. If he joins APC I can’t support him”, Wike said.
Meanwhile, there have been speculations that former President Goodluck Jonathan would join the APC any moment soon to contest the 2023 presidency.
APC has said it would give him a soft-landing to contest the position if he defects to the party.
