
To create awareness on the effects of deforestation and desertification which are causing serious environmental hazards, the Adamawa Chapter of the national agency of the Great Green wall has planted trees in many communities.
Great Green did a tree plantation in Yola, Jimeta to mark the world day tree plantation to reduce the impact and effect of deforestation on socio-economy livelihood on the people of Adamawa state.
Speaking on behalf of the National Vocal person of the Great Green World, Suleiman Abubakar of the Adamawa State Chapter of the Agency said the ripple effects of Climate change are caused by deforestation and desertification on food security, economy, and the entire security of the Nation.
Suleiman further said that the essence of tree planting after creating awareness is to mitigate the effects of Climate change and desertification.
The organization was in the Lamido of Adamawa’s Palace, HRH Dr Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, and have a symbolic tree planting.
The two days tree planting program was also at the Lugere and Bekaji and thought tree planting to primary school pupils, educating them on the benefits and importance of the exercise.
Suleiman also led the delegation to the Adamawa State Ministry of Environment and made a passionate call to the permanent secretary to join the world campaign on afforestation
