World Press Freedom Day: Adamawa NUJ congratulates Practicing Journalists

The Nigeria Union of Journalists( NUJ) Adamawa State council has congratulated it’s members for witnessing yet another ‘World Press Freedom Day 2021’.

The NUJ Chairman, Mr Ishaka Donald Dedan in a statement through the council Secretary, Fidelis Jockthan said the day is significant in the life of every practicing Journalist considering the tough-times they are passing through in the line of duties.

However, the leadership of NUJ urged it’s members to be resolute in the face of any intimidation and remained committed to their responsibilities.

As the theme for this year’s World Press Freedom Day says ‘information as a public Good’ serves as a call to re-affirmed the importance of cherishing information, reawakening the consciousness of authorities and exploring what can be done in it’s dissimination to strengthen journalism for the advancement of our nascent democracy.

While calling for support to the media from Governmet and individuals for freedom of the press,it is also important to note that it is a day of remembrance for those Journalists who lost their lives in the pursuit of stories.
