Wuhan virus:Taraba govt shuts down markets, ban friday, church services

Governor’ Darius Ishaku of Taraba state has directed for the closure of markets across the state with a view to curtail the spread of Covid-19 in the state.

The state Deputy Governor, Haruna Manu disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after a meeting with the state Technical Committee on Covid-19 held at Goverment House Jalingo, the state capital.

He said the ban takes effect from Wednesday, the 1st of April 2020.

Manu explained that the Governor also after meeting with religious bodies which include the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and that of Muslim Council has banned Friday prayers (congrigation) as well as Sunday services as another measure of preventing the spread of Covid-19 in the state.

The Deputy Governor however urged people of the state to cooperate with relivants authorities and adhere to the health advise of medical exparts to avoid the spread of the dreaded disease.

He further called on the people in the state to also maintain the stay at home directive which is for their own good.
