In a electrifying press conference held yesterday, March 16, at the Yelli Multi-Purpose Hall in Ganye Local Government Area, the Coalition for Progressive Youths of Ganye Chiefdom ignited a bold campaign, urging the region’s youth to rise up and shape their future.
The group, uniting members from Ganye, Jada, and Toungo Local Government Areas, issued a resounding call for Professor Maxwell Michael Gidado (SAN), OON, KSM—widely revered as Dan Masanin Ganye—to contest for the Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone seat in the 2027 elections.
The coalition framed their event as a clarion call to action, encouraging young people to dive into the democratic process—volunteering, engaging in community service, and advocating for policies that champion education, healthcare, and climate change. But the spotlight shone brightest on their impassioned endorsement of Gidado, a legal luminary and seasoned public servant, as the ideal candidate to represent the zone.

Barrister Iliya Emabo, the coalition’s secretary, took the stage to lay out Gidado’s towering credentials. “With his vast experience, stellar educational qualifications, and a track record of service at both state and national levels, Professor Gidado stands head and shoulders above as the best person to represent Adamawa South in 2027,” Emabo declared.
He painted a vivid picture of a man whose career spans decades of impactful leadership: Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Adamawa State (1995–1997), Acting Head of Private Law at the University of Maiduguri (1985), and Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Constitutional Debate Coordinating Committee (1999).
Gidado’s national stature grew as Senior Special Assistant on Constitutional Matters to President Olusegun Obasanjo (1999–2003) and Vice President Atiku Abubakar (2003–2007).

The coalition didn’t stop there. They highlighted Gidado’s academic and administrative prowess—Assistant Director of Academics at the Nigeria Law School, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Orator at Nasarawa State University (2009–2019), and two stints as Chief of Staff to Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (2014 and 2019–2023).
Today, he chairs the Governing Board of Adamawa State University, a role that underscores his commitment to education and governance.
