Zamfara Governor Hails Military’s Renewed Onslaught Against Bandits

In a significant development, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has commended the Nigerian military for its intensified efforts against bandits in the state, particularly in Zurmi and Maradun Local Government Areas. The governor’s praise comes after a series of successful airstrikes carried out by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) over the weekend, which targeted bandits terrorizing villages in the affected areas.

The state government has expressed its appreciation for the military’s precision strikes, noting that the operations have significantly degraded the operational capacity of the bandits. According to the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the military’s intervention has demonstrated its commitment to protecting civilians and safeguarding lives and property.

However, the statement also acknowledged an unfortunate incident in Tungar Kara, Zurmi LGA, where civilian casualties were recorded. Members of the local vigilante group, Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), were mistakenly identified as fleeing bandits during the operation, resulting in the loss of lives. The government has extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for Almighty Allah to grant them Jannah.

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigerian military and other security agencies in their operations, pledging to enhance intelligence sharing, provide logistical assistance, and strengthen community engagement to achieve lasting peace in the state.
