Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has flagged off the reconstruction of the 50-year-old General Hospital in Talata Mafara, with a 200-bed capacity. The hospital, which has been neglected for many years, will undergo a major overhaul to improve its infrastructure and medical equipment.
During the ceremony, Governor Lawal reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in the health sector, emphasizing the crucial role of General Hospitals in healthcare delivery.
He expressed concern over the hospital’s neglect, citing the lack of essential medical equipment and poor infrastructure.

“We have deliberately placed education and healthcare at the forefront, recognizing their central roles in societal development,” he said.
Special guest, Mallam Yahaya Abdulkarim, former governor of the old Sokoto State, commended Governor Lawal for prioritizing the healthcare sector. He praised the procurement of advanced equipment for the hospital, calling it “laudable.”
The reconstruction of the General Hospital is part of Governor Lawal’s efforts to transform the healthcare sector in Zamfara State.
