The Zamfara State Government has sought collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to tackle the pressing issues of drug abuse and human trafficking in the state.
Pharm. Ishaq Ibrahim Anka, Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Substance Abuse Control and Human Trafficking Agency, made the call during a courtesy visit to the NYSC Secretariat.
He emphasized the devastating impact of drug abuse and human trafficking on individuals of all ages, describing them as two of the world’s largest crime businesses.

Pharm. Anka highlighted the agency’s establishment by Governor Dauda Lawal to combat these twin problems and outlined various programs aimed at actualizing its mandate. Mallam Muhammed Lawan Ahmed, State Coordinator of NYSC, expressed gratitude for the agency’s identification with the scheme. He acknowledged drug abuse as a serious issue that breeds criminality and noted the scheme’s active involvement in combating the menace through community development initiatives.
The Coordinator assured the agency of NYSC’s readiness to collaborate, highlighting the presence of corps members already campaigning against these issues. He mentioned that corps members are being sensitized on drug abuse, illegal migration, and human trafficking during their orientation program.
“We will work with you to ensure that this message spreads across board,” the Coordinator assured, reaffirming NYSC’s commitment to supporting the agency’s efforts.
