Zamfara State Government Provides N20 Million Relief to Boat Mishap Victims

The Zamfara State Government has donated N20 million to families affected by the recent boat mishap in Gummi Local Government Area. Deputy Governor Mani Malan Mumuni announced the donation during a condolence visit to the Emir’s palace.

Governor Dauda Lawal expressed sympathy to the people of Gummi, stating that the state government would provide alternative water transportation to prevent similar incidents. This includes providing new and modern boats to various river stations in the local government area.

According to the Emir of Gummi, Justice Lawal Hassan, 20 people were capsized, not 40 as initially reported. Seven persons escaped, while 10 bodies were recovered, and the search for the remaining missing persons continues. The monarch thanked the state government for their support.

The Local Government Sole Administrator, Aminu Nuhu Falale, urged the state government to closely monitor water transportation activities to prevent similar incidents.

This gesture demonstrates the state government’s commitment to supporting affected families and improving water transportation safety in the region.
