Kalu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, warned that the people of Zamfara could lose out of major development if the governor failed to play political economics with the President.

Abia North Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has advised Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal to put aside his political differences with President Bola Tinubu for the sake of the state’s development.

Speaking at the commissioning of the newly constructed Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and renovated Zamfara College of Arts and Science in Gusau, Kalu emphasized the importance of maintaining a good relationship with the President to secure more federal funding for developmental projects.

Once you leave economic diplomacy and play politics, you will lose, Zamfara people will lose

Kalu urged Governor Lawal to focus on economic development for the state, rather than getting caught up in party politics, saying “Once you leave economic diplomacy and play politics, you will lose, Zamfara people will lose.”

He highlighted his own experience of maintaining good relations with Tinubu despite being in different parties, noting that Tinubu is not only a political leader but also a friend.

The senator’s advice comes against the backdrop of recent defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), including those of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno.

President Tinubu has denied claims that the APC is working towards establishing a one-party state in Nigeria, emphasizing national unity and development in his Democracy Day speech.
